Refuse Collection 2007 - Waste Management
Dear Homeacres Refuse District Resident: Beginning January 1, Waste Management will be collecting your refuse for the 2007 season.
Our offices are located at 1661 Mt. Read Blvd., Rochester, NY 14606. You may reach us by telephone Monday through Friday at the following phone number:
7:30 AM to 4:30 PM:
585 254-3500
Your weekly refuse collection day will be Wednesday. Your household refuse must be placed outside your house. Bags or containers are not to exceed 60 lbs., and all items must be available on your collection day by 7:00 AM. Any refuse not containerized in this manner is considered bulk waste and must be placed at the street (see instructions below). Recyclables are collected on the same day as your refuse. Recyclables must be placed at the curb and ready for pickup by 7:00 AM on your collection day. If you are physically handicapped and are unable to put your refuse outside of the garage, call us ai the above phone number to arrange for special service.
Toter Service
In lieu of collecting trash from your containers at the house and upon your request, we will provide you a toter at no additional charge. The toter and any additional refuse must be brought down to the curb on your pickup day. We will maintain ownership of the toters and will provide them for you as long as we remain the provider of your refuse pickup services. Please contact us at the number listed above to arrange for the delivery of a toter to your home.
Holidays
Holidays include New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. When a holiday falls on your regular collection day we will collect your refuse and recyclables on the first day after the holiday. For example, if the holiday falls on a Monday, we will collect on Tuesday, if the holiday falls on a Friday, we will collect on Saturday, etc.
Bulk Waste
Bulk waste includes construction and demolition debris, solid waste from cleanups of attic, garage, or basement, or solid waste that is not easily containerized, due to size or weight. We will pick up swing sets (remove any concrete, cut into 4' lengths), moving boxes and crates, reasonable amounts of construction materials and other items from attic, garage or special cleanups, properly bundled and tied or contained in standard waterproof containers or bags. Reasonable amounts of carpeting or sheet flooring, etc., will be collected if the material is rolled and tied, and cut into reasonable lengths (4' long or less). A reasonable amount of bulk refuse is defined as two (2) cubic yards of material or less per week (this is a 3' x 3' x 6' sized pile). Automotive tires are excluded from this definition -see automotive tires below. Bulk waste must be properly containerized or tied for expedient pickup - loose material that is scattered or that requires an inordinate amount of time to pick up off the ground will not be collected.
There will be no additional charge to you for these services.
We will perform the special pick up on the same day as the regular weekly collection of refuse, as long as you call at least one business day prior to the regular collection day; if this is not the case, then the special pickup shall be performed on your next scheduled pick up day.
NOTE: By Law we are not allowed to collect hazardous waste, such as solvents, wet paint, bug sprays, etc. Please contact the Monroe County Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at 760-7600 for details.
Special Pickup of Larger Amounts or Heavy Items
If you wish us to collect more than the reasonable amount (2 cubic yards) in a given week, you will be charged $12.00 per cubic yard in excess of the reasonable amount, which will be billed directly to you. As explained above, you must call our office to schedule a special pickup. You may be charged a reasonable fee for collection of bulk waste that is of unusual weight; such as large pieces of concrete, large amounts of concrete, block, brick, wallboard or plaster. Please call our office to arrange a cost estimate and pick up of unusual items.
Automotive Tires
We will collect automotive tires free of charge. Tires need to be picked up separately from your regular garbage, because they cannot be landfilled, and require special handling for disposal. Please call us to make arrangements for the tire pickup. NOTE: All tires must be off the rim.
We look forward to serving you. If you have additional concerns, please contact our office at the times and phone numbers listed above.
